An important site for wildflower and wildlife habitats attracting many nature
lovers whilst still leaving room for recreational pursuits. It is the largest
open space in the borough and its 97 hectares lends itself to the variety of
wildlife habitats present. Swans and kingfishers are frequent sites on the way.

fourteenth century castle ruins. The area has some of the cleanest beaches in

| Trans Pennine Trail, North England |
A walk through some of the best towns and cities in the North of England, alongside rivers and canals, and through the hills of the Pennines. The route mixes both urban and rural walks and you can do as much or as little of the trail as you like. The Trans Pennine Traile has a gentle sloping gradient and good walking surface. There is good accessibility - including for horses, bicycles and wheelchairs.
