Award Criteria
General Criteria which apply to all awards
- The awards are only open to local authority dog wardens and environmental officers
- The awards reward both established and new campaigns designed to encourage responsible pet ownership within the local community
- The campaign in question must be in progress over the course of 2007, but does not need to have been launched in 2007
- The target audience could be any age or demographic group but it must be focused towards the general public
- We are looking for a campaign, event or initiative which combines creativity with effective communication
- It could take the form of a long running campaign or a one off event
- The judges will want to have a clear idea of what the campaign’s objectives were and will be looking for proof of the campaign’s effectiveness
- The judges will require photography of the event / campaign in action
Education
- The activity should have at its heart the desire to educate on one or all of the tenets of responsible pet ownership.
- It could be targeted at any element within the local community including: school children, local kids groups or adults groups (dog owners and or Non Dog owners)
Public Spaces
- We are looking for an initiative which focuses on improving public spaces for the benefit of dog owners and non dog owners within the local community eg: dog Fouling, control of dogs on leads in public spaces
Special Achievement
- This will be awarded to the initiative or individual who the judges feel has best contributed to the effective communication of RPO messages in the UK.
- The activity or individual must focus their work within the local community, but its influence may be felt more widely
